Dagar the Invincible
was Gold Key Comics’ answer to the rising sword-and-sorcery wave of the 1970s. Created by Donald F. Glut and Jesse Santos, the series followed Dagar, a wandering barbarian warrior, through a mythical world of dark sorcery, savage beasts, and ancient kingdoms.

Running from 1972 to 1976, with a final Whitman reprint in 1982, Dagar the Invincible blended heroic fantasy with crossover appearances from other Gold Key characters like Tragg and Doctor Spektor. It was one of the era’s defining pulp fantasy comics, packed with brutal battles, sorcerous plots, and the lavish painted artwork of Jesse Santos.
